Culture, Beliefs and Social Classes
Greece was the world's largest and greatest civilization. Greece also had a unique culture, or a different way of life. First of all, people traded for goods. For example, the Minoans and the Mycenaeans traded for goods. The Greeks also believed that gods caused things to happen. For example, Zeus, the god of thunder causes the lightning to happen causing storms, and Poseidon, the god of the sea caused huge tidal waves like tsunami. The Greeks created stories called myths to explain the god’s actions. There are many myths today, such as the story of Hades and Persephone. Finally, the Greeks believed in a bunch of gods such as Apollo, the God of the sun, music, and healing. They had many different types of gods, and each one had a different purpose. The Greeks had unique culture and lifestyle.
